Project guides / Plan a timber floor refresh

Your project checklist

Plan a timber floor refresh

Identify your floor and the required finish before deciding between equipment hire and a flooring professional.

Five things to organise

Use this checklist to prepare a supplier brief. It is not an operating method.

  1. Confirm the floor construction and remaining wear layer with a flooring professional. Some engineered or thin floors cannot be sanded.
  2. Check whether coatings or materials need testing before disturbance. Plan dust controls with appropriate advice.
  3. Measure the floor and identify edges, corners, fixings and repair work. Ask what the proposed machine and finish require.
  4. Compare a complete professional scope with equipment, abrasives, finishing products, transport and time.
  5. Allow for room clearance, drying or curing requirements and safe access. Do not assume the room can be used immediately.
This is a planning checklist. It is not a technical method or substitute for supplier instruction and professional advice.
