Plan a weekend hire without the rush

Prepare the site and materials before the hire clock starts. Confirm the exact weekend arrangement with your supplier.

Make the plan before the pickup

Identify the task, measure the area and confirm suitable equipment. Have the consumables, materials and necessary help ready. If the job depends on weather, ask about cancellation or rescheduling before paying.

Confirm hours and return cut-offs

Branch opening hours and charged hire periods are not always the same. Ask what time the hire starts, the exact return deadline and what happens if you finish outside opening hours. Do not assume a universal weekend discount.

Allow for preparation and clean-up

Include collection, unloading, familiarisation, site preparation, cleaning and return. A full day of work can be unrealistic if both transport trips and preparation fall inside the same hire period.

Plan a sensible fallback

Know whom to call if the equipment is unsuitable or stops working. Ask what the supplier requires if the job is delayed. If the site or materials are not ready, postponing may be cheaper than paying for an idle machine.

General planning information. Actual charges, responsibilities and equipment suitability depend on the supplier, contract and task.
